Where and What to Buy

Where and What to Buy

Where to Buy

Firstly, we’re here to listen, but also to impart our knowledge and experience. We know the area inside out, plus it’s our practical knowledge about what represents a good buy and what doesn’t. It’s all too easy to be confused by glossy advertising, but it’s the substance we concentrate on.

Beachside is great, but then again it can mean paying much more comparatively than something that might not be too far inland. Of course, you can go even more in land where property tends to be much cheaper. There are some great inland towns such as Alhaurin El Grande and Cóin and both offer a good mixture of old and newer properties to suit all budgets.

Staying nearer to the coast, does of course have its advantages. More transport links and being closer to the beach and to the lively buzz of the likes of Fuengirola, Benalmádena and Torremolinos with restaurants, bars and shops galore. In Fuengirola and around La Cala de Mijas you have many live music venues. Then of course each summer you have Marenostrum in the grounds of Castillo Sohail on the outskirts of Fuengirola with live concerts from a whole host of leading national and international artists. Venture a bit further and you have the spectacular Starlite Marbella.

Maybe you love golf, in which case you are absolutely spoilt for choice. In the first instance we always recommend La Cala Golf. It’s the biggest four-star golf resort in the whole of Europe with spectacular views in every direction. Situated less than 10 minutes in a car from La Cala de Mijas it offers three 18-hole golf courses, plus a smaller practice course. It also offers a huge leisure complex and a range of dining experiences. Established for more than 30 years they’re always working hard to improve the facilities. Currently they’re in the throes of  a multi-million project to improve the golfing facilities and car parking, with a new restaurant boasting panoramic views also in the planning.

What to Buy

Firstly, it’s all about your budget, but sometimes something that might seem unaffordable at first can be made possible and within reach. That’s where our expertise comes in.

Maybe a one bed flat is all that you need, but practical experience teaches us that for sure if you buy a two-bedroom property it will prove to be a better investment in the long run and allow you space to grow into. It’s much the same argument for buying a three-bedroom property as opposed to a two bedroom property and especially so if you feel that it might be a forever home.

Other things to consider when buying a flat are community fees and the energy efficiency of the property. The last one may seem strange, but if you plan to use the property during the winter months it’s something certainly to consider.

On the other hand, if it’s a house or villa that you’re after, you need to think about the practical implications of looking after it when you’re not there. That said, it’s also something else that we can help you with through our vast list of trusted contacts.

Finally, maybe you have the resources to build your dream home in the Costa del Sol. Not only can we source the right plot for you, we can also give you a huge amount of inside knowledge on what architects and builders to use and how to closely control the building of the property during the construction phase and all the way to completion. It’s possibly not for the faint hearted, but the rewards can be substantial.
