Why Buy in the Costa del Sol
Many people from the UK see living in Spain, especially the Costa Del Sol, as a dream and why not? Boasting over 300 days a year of sunshine and with Malaga airport only 3 hours away by plane.
It also boasts the kind of outdoor life you can only dream of in the UK. From miles and miles of rich golden beaches to spectacular snow-capped mountains and deep blue lakes, the Costa del Sol is both relaxing and spectacular. It’s also simply steeped in history. It also boasts an abundance of high-quality golf courses unsurpassed anywhere else in Europe and transport infrastructure where trains and buses run on time and are much more affordable than what we are used to in the UK.
Stunning cities like Madrid, Seville and Cordoba are all within easy of reach of Malaga thanks to Spain’s network of high-speed trains.
If you like food, then the whole area is a culinary delight. It’s something the Spanish are extremely passionate about. For them the outdoor life with family and friends and of course the children is paramount. Kids are positively welcomed into bars and restaurants where friends and families have the chance to relax and enjoy being together.
Then of course there is the shopping experience. An incredible number of small boutiques, plus three high quality shopping centres, La Cañada in the outskirts of Marbella, the Miramar in Fuengirola and then Plaza Mayor which is based on the fringes of Malaga and also includes a McArthur Glen outlet village.
It’s a much gentler pace of life too and even in the winter months you can still find temperatures hovering close to 20 degrees. It’s also a place where even in December you are still blessed with more than 9 hours of daylight. Perfect for walks along the seafront, with the occasional stop for an ice cold caña, or a glass of Red.
Maybe it’s for a holiday home. Somewhere to recharge the batteries for a week or two, or even a long weekend. Or perhaps it’s somewhere to finally retire to and immerse yourself in the quality of life you have dreamt about and promised yourself for years. For some it’s also the opportunity to quit the rat race we are used to back home and bring your children up to appreciate the value of true family life. Let your children enter a first-class educational system that offers a vast menu of choices and the opportunity to grow up as bi-lingual, or even multi-lingual. It’s also pleasantly surprising to see that even the most acclaimed private schools are typically much cheaper that private schooling in the UK. Also, the sheer level of educational support for children is quite something else.
